Week of Sunday, June 2, 2019

 

VBS: We are looking for Adult Volunteers to help out with VBS this year. Please let Natalie know if you can help out. This year’s Community Vacation Bible School will be held, July 15 – 19 from 9 AM – noon, at Orion Methodist Church. Please make a note of these dates on your calendars, and plan to participate in this awesome annual event!”.  Forms are now available in the hallway. The cost is now $10 and prior to VBS. Cost will be $20 on the first day of VBS. Children need to be 4 by September 1, 2019 through those entering 6th grade. 7th grade through college can be team leaders.

 VBS Crew Leaders: Students who will complete the 6th grade in June of 2019 through those students in college are invited to be crew leaders at this year’s Community Vacation Bible School.  Dates are July 15 – 19 at Orion Methodist Church. You may sign-up by putting your name on the youth green bulletin board in the courtyard hallway, or by contacting Natalie Farwell.

Flower chart for 2019: Has been posted in the narthex.  You may sign up to provide flowers for one or two vases for our worship services.  Flowers may be given in honor or memory of loved ones. The cost of flowers is $20 per vase.  Please pay for your flowers at the time you sign up to provide them.  There is a box for this purpose located directly beneath the flower sign-up chart.  If you want to pay by cash, please enclose your payment in an envelope with your name on it, so our secretary knows who has made the payment. There are a lot of dates open for flowers.  

St. Paul’s 150th Anniversary: We will be planning St. Paul’s 150th Anniversary on Sunday, April 26, 2020. We are looking for volunteers to be on the Planning Committee. There is a sign-up sheet in the Courtyard hallway.

Special Music Volunteers Wanted: If you would be interested        in         providing       special             music (vocal or instrumental) for one of our worship services during the summer, please contact Jan Enders or the church office.  We invite you to share your talents with us!   

June Breakfasts: Beginning June 2nd, and continuing through the month of June, our congregation is invited to attend a breakfast in the Ark following the 9:00 AM worship service. Free-will donations will help support our youth. Join us for good food and fellowship. Reminder, only ONE Sunday worship service starting on June 2nd. Saturday evening worship will continue at 6:00 PM. Please make note of this change, and plan to worship with us this summer.

“God’s Work-Our Hands”: Sunday, August 25. If you would like to order one of our ELCA t-shirts, please see the display in the courtyard hallway. The last day to order t-shirts is Sunday, July 28.

Vacation Bible School Donations: Our annual list of donations needed for VBS is now posted in the courtyard hallway. All three participating churches are asked to provide food, craft, and other items that will be used the week of VBS. By donating the needed items, we are able to keep the cost for those children attending VBS as low as possible. A sign-up sheet is now on display in the courtyard hallway for donations for VBS teen treats. Your support would be appreciated in feeding these hardworking young people who serve the entire week of VBS (July 15-19). Donations are due on Sunday, June 23rdThank you for your support!

St. Paul Lutheran Annual Pork Chop Supper & Ice Cream Social: Wednesday, July 3rd, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Join us for great food, fellowship, and music provided by the Orion Community Band.  All are invited to attend. The Orion Lighted Parade and Fireworks will be held the same evening. Many volunteers are needed to make this annual event a success. Please sign-up to donate supplies, prepare food, serve customers, clean up, and help in many other ways. This event is one of the largest outreach activities to the community, so plan to be a part of it! Sign-up sheets are available in the West Connection.

Men of St. Paul: You are invited to sing, “Lift High the Cross” during the offertory on Sunday, June 16th. Not only are the words appropriate for worship, they are a reminder that this hymn was sung as the new cross was lifted on our reconstructed steeple.

Sermon Snacks: We are asking for more Sermon snacks. We are hoping for a variety of things.  We have plenty of fruit snacks for now. We are requesting, mini muffins, granola bars, Ritz Bitz crackers, goldfish crackers, etc. Thank you so much for donating to the children of our congregation. 

 

St. Paul’s Annual Rummage Sale: During Fall Fest weekend, on Saturday, August 31. Donations of items for the sale may be brought to church anytime. There are designated Sunday School classrooms downstairs where items may be placed. There will be separate rooms for clothing, kitchen items, children’s items (toys, games, books, etc.), linens, holiday decorations, and furniture (and all large items that will be sold outside under the canopy.) Please contact the church office with any questions.

OACA presents The Assemblymen Gospel Singers: On Sunday, June 23rd at 3:00 PM at the Methodist Activity Center. If you love the Gaither Homecoming programs or recordings, then you will not want to miss this concert! Free-will offering. Refreshments to follow.

Christian Day at the Ballpark: Thrivent Financial is proud to present the 2019 Christian Day at the Ballpark when the Cardinals face the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sunday, July 14 at 1:15 PM. Tickets are $15 and include a complimentary jumbo hot dog and soda. For more details there are flyers in the courtyard hallway.

PASTOR SEARCH:  We interviewed a candidate April 1. The candidate informed the committee on April 10, that discernment was not leading him/her to St. Paul. The Synod will continue to work with us to find the right candidate.
